Boerne, TX
Cyndi Roberts started Blinded by Delight, a window treatment store serving Boerne and San Antonio, in December 2004 as a shop-at-home service. Our growing clientele led to the opening of our Hunter Douglas Gallery Showroom in 2013. Today, we have showrooms in Boerne and San Antonio, along with in-home appointments for anyone who wants to see samples in the context of their home’s color palette, décor, and lighting.
Every project starts with a walk-through of your windows. Then you pick the product that best fits what matters most to you, whether that's price, how the room is used, or the look you want to achieve.
Built for Hill Country Homes
German settlers arrived on the banks of Cibolo Creek in 1849, and the town was platted and named Boerne three years later. Limestone from that era is still the local building material today. You can see it in the 1870 Kendall County Courthouse with its three arched entryways, in the Joseph Dienger Building, and in the Kuhlmann-King House. The limestone palette strongly influences fabric choices for window treatments, and we'll bring samples to the house to hold them against the decor already in the room.
Houses in Cordillera Ranch and Menger Springs often feature wide living room windows that frame the view, and we help you choose window treatments that preserve it. Our showroom is at 100 N Main St on the Hill Country Mile, a short walk from Main Plaza. Come in to touch the fabrics, check out the hardware, and compare finishes side by side.
Window Treatments for Every Room
Our Hunter Douglas Gallery Showroom allows you to compare two fabrics side by side that may appear identical online. We also offer Graber® and Alta products, which include composite shutters, roller shades, and woven wood shades, across various price points.
Wood, Faux Wood, and Vertical Blinds
Wood, faux wood, aluminum, and vertical blinds make up the core lineup. Wood blinds come in painted and stained finishes, and many people match the stain to the beams, cabinets, or floors already in their home. Faux wood is less expensive and ideal for humid spaces, so it won’t warp in a bathroom or on a window over the kitchen sink.
Cordless lift systems keep window treatment cords out of reach in homes with small children and pets. Vertical blinds work well for patio doors, but many customers have switched to vertical cellular shades or sliding panel tracks for their sliding glass doors.
Cellular, Solar, and Woven Wood Shades
Cellular, roller, solar, woven wood, and Roman shades give you a range of light control and style options. Cellular shades slow the heat coming through west-facing glass, while solar shades cut glare and preserve the view. Woven wood shades are made from grass and bamboo, and they look good with limestone and stained wood. Any of these can also be fitted with a blackout liner, which makes the shade dark enough for a bedroom.
Interior Shutters Built for Texas Heat
Interior shutters hold up well through hot Central Texas summers and give you room-by-room control over privacy and light. Painted and stained finishes both retain their color in strong sun, which matters in Texas.
Custom Draperies and Fabric Panels
Draperies soften hard architectural lines and finish a window where a shade by itself looks bare. We sell fabric panels from Carole™ Fabrics, along with lining, rods, and track, including wide-span and corner track. In a room with heavy west sun, add a blackout or thermal lining to slow fading on other fabrics.
Motorization and Smart Automation
Motorized shades and blinds are perfect for windows above a staircase, on the upper row in a two-story great room, or on a wall of glass across the back of the house. You can run them with a remote or an app on your phone and set a schedule to lower them before the late-afternoon sun hits the west side.
Local Questions from Boerne, Texas Homeowners
Which window coverings handle strong afternoon sun?
Solar shades with a low openness factor, cellular shades with a reflective backing, and composite shutters all help manage heat and UV exposure. Fading is the long-term issue in this climate, so we point people toward materials rated for heavy exposure and away from delicate fabrics on west-facing windows.
Do neighborhoods around Boerne have rules about window coverings?
Many of the planned and gated communities around Boerne, including Cordillera Ranch, Esperanza, and Fair Oaks Ranch, have architectural standards that govern what is visible from the street. Shutter louver color and shade backing color are the two most commonly requested. Read your association documents early, and we can put together the details your board requests for review.
What works for tall or hard-to-reach windows?
Motorization is the best option for windows that are out of reach. A two-story great room or a window above a staircase usually sits higher than any household ladder can safely reach, and an automated blind, shutter, or shade solves the issue permanently.
How long does a custom order take to arrive?
Timing varies by product line and project size, so we'll provide you with a realistic timeline once you place your order. In the meantime, we hang temporary paper shades on your most important windows to give you privacy while you wait.
