What Are Plantation Blinds?
Some people mistakenly search for plantation blinds when looking for plantation shutters. To eliminate confusion, we're slowly starting to call them interior shutters. For beneficial and elegant wood shutters with tons of benefits, contact Blinded By Delight Window Coverings & Design. We have locations in Boerne and San Antonio, Texas, and carry custom Hunter Douglas, Graber, Norman, and Alta window treatments that can make your home look incredible.

Benefits of Plantation Shutters
Plantation shutters, or interior shutters, are the only window treatments that increase your home's curb appeal and the property's resale value. These timeless window treatments create an inviting, elegant, sophisticated aesthetic that allows you to control light and privacy.
Some benefits of interior window shutters are that you can:
- Adjust the louvers to block out or let in light
- Raise or lower the louvers to get privacy or enjoy the view
- Close them to boost your home's security or prevent storm damage from entering your home
- Swing them open to clean the window glass or for an uninterrupted view
- Boost your home's energy efficiency
- Have them cut to fit any window in your home
How to Use Interior Shutters Effectively
Interior window shutters have louvers that adjust to alter light and keep others from seeing in. You can lower or raise them to darken the room and reduce glare. Shutters are typically adjusted with a tilt bar. Some are in front, but you can select a rear tilt bar for a cleaner look.
Wood and faux wood shutters reduce outside noise when they're closed. They can also boost energy efficiency. In winter, you can leave the shutters open during the day so that heat from sunlight comes through your window glass, naturally raising the temperature in your home.
Types of Interior Window Shutters
At Blinded by Delight, we carry Hunter Douglas shutters. Choose from louvers that are 2.25 inches wide, 3.25 inches wide, or 4.25 inches wide. We have three separate types of interior window shades:
- Heritance® Wood Shutters are made from natural hardwood and use dovetail joinery for enhanced strength, durability, and stability. They're available in over 20 colors.
- NewStyle® Composite Shutters, which look like natural wood and use dovetail joinery, are more durable because of the wood composite. They're available in 5 color choices.
- Palm Beach™ Polysatin™ Vinyl Shutters are the most durable option. They're water, mold, and mildew resistant. They're available in 3 colors, and they are the only shutters that can be motorized.
